Welcome to Caterpillar Class, where our Reception and Year 1 children learn, play and grow together in a happy, nurturing and engaging environment.

We believe that children learn best when they are curious, confident and excited to discover more. Our youngest children enjoy a predominantly play-based approach to learning, with plenty of opportunities to explore, investigate, create and develop their own ideas both indoors and outdoors. As children progress through Year 1, we carefully build upon these strong foundations, gradually introducing more focused learning while continuing to value play, exploration and practical experiences.

Being a mixed Reception and Year 1 class gives our children some wonderful opportunities to learn alongside and from one another. We encourage independence, kindness and collaboration, helping every child to become an active participant in their own learning. Our school values of Safe, Kind, Ready are woven throughout our day, supporting children to develop positive relationships, resilience and confidence as they begin their journey through school.

Above all, we want Caterpillar Class to be a place where children feel happy, secure and proud of what they can achieve. We celebrate each child's individuality and aim to nurture a genuine love of learning, giving them the confidence to have a go, ask questions and discover just how much they are capable of.
